Hi Guys!
I brought my first dslr this year after years of doing my own hobbyist photography, intending only really to carry on for my own amusement. I however realised that it is easy to ping images all over the place - i've begun submitting my photos.
I dont have photoshop, can i get away without it for now or will i have difficulties especially here, with all the ftp etc it's a bit daunting!
Please help!
Dave

Hi Dave, You don't need Photoshop as there are other programs that do a similar job. You will need an image editing program, so you can adjust and crop your pictures. You probaly a;ready have a basic image editing progam,as they often come free with digital cameras or on the front of magazines. I've found a freeware image editing program which allows you to input IPTC info. I'll try it out before I add it to our downloads. It seems to be OK. FTP: You can download a free FTP program from the link below pbpa.proboards104.com/index.cgi?board=ftp&action=display&thread=1145530661

Dave,
Have a look in the help file for IPTC. You can always send me a small picture with keywords and descriptions added, and I'll check it for compatability.
The free program I found is very complicated, so I'll hunt for a simpler one.

There's several sellers on ebay with photoshop 7, there's probably some with up to cs2.
Does 7 work on windows xp as im inclined to go for an older version which is probably from an honest source rather than a dodgy copy.
7, 10, cs2??

Photoshop 7 works fine though it is not quite as good as CS, you can still do your IPTC captioning through the file - file info and add the relevant details. It works fine on Windows XP. When you have keyworded an image and have others of the same ilk, you may want to save the keywords as an XMP file which you do direct from the file info page, just press save and give it the name of your choosing. When you then keyword your similar image, just press the load button and navigate to the relevant file

Thank you, Matthew, that was a great tip. I've been creating an Excel spreadsheet to hold me keywords. I like your tip much better.
