I heard a rumour that "The Wind In The Willows" is to be updated and set in the summer of 2006. The best I can do for a synopsis is:
Toad loved driving big, expensive cars but, as PM, and very impulsive in most other matters, he could do this only in secret, on the estates of millionaire friends, under his cover name of Toady, often misquoted as 'Tony'. Ratty had no such inhibitions. He claimed he never wanted to be PM and stopped halfway. He was proud to be Toad's No 2. However, he thought his name was undignified so he took the P and made himself into Pratty. . Badger should have been President but Brush (code name, often misquoted as 'Bush', for Fox) had a cousin who fixed the election. Foxes like to cause mayhem whenever they find something to kill, irrespective of the sense of it. Being Fox never stopped Brush from badgering Toad to do his bidding. Brush liked Pratty because he made him look like an intellectual giant. Mole is still working under cover but we suspect he is helping Al Quaeda by disabling air transport with regulations which his poor eyesight stops him seeing as completely inappropriate.
It seems that a lot of 'weasel words' are involved in a big house.
The story? It seems to be the same old one going round and round with none of the characters learning from it.
Of course, this could be a wind-up.
